Each residents’ association is independent. However, common issues often cross the boundaries of wards and RAs. The chairmen and secretaries of each RA meet six times a year to discuss these issues and share best practice. This is known as the Standing Committee of Residents’ Associations (SCoRA). Councillors may also be invited to provide updates on council activities or to answer questions on council policy. SCoRA can prove useful as a forum during elections. Committee members may lend support or advice and share best practice on electoral compliance.
